The Friends of Yellowman was formed by friends and family of David Middleton (aka Yellowman). In May 2012 David was diagnosed with terminal gallbladder cancer and given eight weeks to live.

Seeing the pain and suffering Dave was going through, we couldn’t just stand by and watch, so decided to help Dave and others like him in the only way we knew how, by raising money for the organisations which were making the lives of cancer sufferers bearable and searching for a cure.  We raised funds for Macmillan Nurses, Weston Park Cancer Charity and Rotherham Hospice and over the last 2 years we have raised £24,000 for these charities.

Towards the end of his life David was cared for by the Hospice at Home team, which was provided by Rotherham Hospice.  Unfortunately, as Rotherham Hospice relies solely on donations, their priority is to maintain the upkeep and running of the hospice, therefore the Hospice at Home facility is not available to all patients.  The Friends of Yellowman have seen how important and beneficial this service is and we have decided to focus on raising funds to enable more people and families fighting cancer to have access to this method of care.  We are also providing other financial support to the hospice and have recently purchased ten repose mattresses.  These are specialist mattresses which provide the support and comfort for patients suffering with the affects of cancer.

David lost his battle with cancer in August 2013, we want to continue to help other people and families with their fight against cancer and hope that with your support, we can achieve this goal.
